It Got Too Real

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Police say they have launched a search after a woman went over Niagara Falls.

It happened around 6 p.m. Saturday.

New York State Park Police say a woman in her 40s went over the falls at Prospect Point.


Park Police spokesman Randy Simons says it appeared the woman intentionally entered the water to "harm herself."

He says a police investigation is underway and rescuers were searching the area. The woman has not been found.

Wait seriously?

Every year a distressing number of choose to go over the Falls and end their lives.. It's something that I came across time and time again in my research.

It's a tragedy and a painful truth . But it isn't usually publicized, for reasons you may be able to surmise, I'm not sure why this case beat the usual 'blackout' on the subject.

That's so terrible

They are often cast as 'accidents' or never discussed, but a LOT of people choose to end their life there.

An acquaintance of mine once made the attempt. Luckily, he was unsuccessful.
